Jewish women are dealing with a lot right now. So we thought we’d send you a gift.
The gift is Modern Jewess – an exploration of what it means to be a Jewish woman today. Within the pages of Modern Jewess you will find personal essays, inspirational Jewish wisdom, kernels of Jewish history, and maybe even a recipe, a word game, or something else a little unexpected. If you want to tear through it all in one sitting – go ahead, it won’t take long. But our idea is to make Modern Jewess last – there are seven pages inside, one for each day of the week. So go ahead, indulge and take your time. This is our Torah – a shabbos gift that we hope will bring you some spiritual nourishment and intellectual uplift. And we hope that these pages will remind you that you are a part of the greatest family of all time, the Jewish people.
Who we are
Rabbi Diana Fersko and Rabbi Karen Glazer Perolman are the co-founders of Modern Jewess. We are congregational rabbis, mothers, leaders, authors, teachers, and perhaps most importantly, friends for the past 20 years. Modern Jewess was born out of our decades of conversations about Judaism, feminism, and life.
Are you a Modern Jewess?
Tell us your story! We accept original submissions (one page front and back) including personal essays, commentary and reflections on Jewish texts, poetry, fiction, recipes, and other expressions of 21st century Jewish life. Click on the button below.
